The Future of Work is (literally) in Our Hands.
Many of us have been embracing the remote work lifestyle for months. While there are so many upsides to remote work, one of the challenges a company or manager might encounter is employee onboarding. Even if you aren’t actively seeking remote employees, the coronavirus pandemic has made this scenario much more common because of federal stay at home orders and company safety precautions. There are 7 million+ U.S. Remote Workers, and many experts predict that remote work is here to stay. In fact, Global Workplace Analytics estimates that 25–30% of the workforce will be working from home multiple days a week by the end of 2021.
What does this mean? We must invest in better training that fits the lifestyle of our employees.
As a startup founder turned employee at a larger company, I’ve managed distributed teams of all kinds. When starting my company, I was a solo-founder working out of my living room or any coffee shop with good music and espresso. My first team members were developers located out of Serbia, and since then, I’ve hired dozens of remote employees. I’ve seen first-hand the difficulty with onboarding, documenting company processes, and training new employees.
Now, there’s a solution to the complexity of training of remote workers: Guide, a B2B learning & talent development app for distributed teams.
Guide makes it easy to learn from anywhere with short, bite-sized training videos for enterprise teams. So how would you put this into practice at your company? First, you’ll want to set up a Guide account for your team, and all team members can create 90-second courses to share internally with their teams. With Guide, training is at your employees’ fingertips, and there’s no need for hours of Zoom calls and pages of documentation.
Guide isn’t just for enterprises and their employees — it’s a platform for creators. As a creator who is eager to share my startup and marketing tips with the world, I’ve been searching for the right place to do so. I can create short business style courses without making full-length Youtube videos and the dreaded editing and processing time. I wanted something like TikTok, but for business and informational videos, and Guide does just that.
The founders of Guide, Tim (Mr. Future of Work) Salau and Taban Cosmos, turn professional learning and development on its head. I met Tim, CEO of Guide, back in April. We followed each other on Twitter and cheered for each other’s successes. It was then that I knew he and Taban were something special.
In August, I joined the Guide Creator Community (that now has over 50 creators!), and after using it for a couple of months, I was in awe and wanted to be a part of the team in a more meaningful way. Shortly after using the app and becoming part of the creator network, I joined the Guide Advisory Board AND became an angel investor because I believed so strongly in the vision and the founders, who are two of the most determined and not to mention positive people in tech.
Tim and Taban are the type of entrepreneurs you rarely come across. They aren’t just building to say they’re building something. They are passionate, hard-working, and committed to the future of Guide and the entire team of creators on the platform. Tim, formerly Google, Microsoft, Linkedin, WeWork, and Facebook, harnesses his experience to develop Guide and connect with a larger community through an active presence on Twitter and LIVE B2B Jam Sessions on Linkedin almost every day. Co-founder and CTO Taban brings his own unique talents to Guide with a background leading projects at Dragonchain Technologies and GE Digital.
But Guide isn’t the only way Tim and Taban are making an impact. Tim just launched his tea brand, Big Black Tea. According to Tim, “the world needs tea now more than ever due to all the violence and the sadness and depression going on in the world that we’ve experienced from COVID-19.” Big Black Tea was created to help people find warmth and peace in their lives, despite these unsettling times.
Big Black Tea also serves as a D2C accessory line to complement the Guide brand and empower its community during these tough times.
Now, the Guide team is looking for more investors (and creators!) to go on the ride with us. Join the future of work and sign up today at guideapp.co. And watch a product demo of Guide here to see it in action.
