NYC Pitch Party Recap

Overlooked Ventures took on New York City, and it was an experience like no other. And we’re not saying that because of the iconic sights. The Rockefeller tree, Bryant Park Holiday Market, and just being in New York City around Christmas time took my breath away, but the most excitement and joy came from meeting founders and friends in real life and hosting our NYC Pitch Party.

The team traveled to NYC from all over the country — Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, and California — and the first thing we did was hit the sights. Brandon and I explored Manhattan to soak in the beauty and magic. It wouldn’t be Christmas time in the city if we didn’t experience all that New York had to offer. We went to the Rockefeller tree, shopped around at the Bryant Park Holiday Market and FAO Schwartz toy store, and even watched families and friends ice skate.

Brandon and I continued the fun into the evening by meeting up with some of our team for soup dumplings and stopped at a Christmas bar on the way home.

But all of that was just a warm-up for the big event — the Overlooked Ventures’ NYC Pitch Party! At the Ready Rooftop Bar in the East Village, we hosted a not-so-traditional Pitch Party to meet up with some amazing founders and investors. This rooftop served the vibes and tacos, but the people were who made it an incredible night! Just like our Midwest Pitch Party, this event was super casual, with no name tags, no formal pitching.

The goal was to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive space with no power dynamics. And we think we accomplished just that!

Everyone was so excited to be meeting with people IRL from Twitter! VCs, LPs, and founders came together to pitch casually and enjoy all-you-can-eat tacos and nachos. There’s no better way to get to know each other than by dancing!

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed tacos, drinks, and good vibes with us. Until next time NYC. In the meantime, we’re excited to plan our next Pitch Party!
